San Antonio, TX – O. C. “Chet” Robbins, past president of The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, was elected to serve a second term on the Board of Directors at the 104th annual convention held February 28-29, 2008, in San Antonio Texas. Mr. Robbins was born and raised in North Kansas City, Missouri, and relocated to Texas in 1994. After completion of his undergraduate work in Missouri, Robbins was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he served honorably for over 20 years, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. While in the service, Robbins worked as Commander, Healthcare Administrator and Hospital Operations Officer in some of the most dynamic medical facilities in the world and received many military awards, honors and decorations In 1997 Robbins enrolled at Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas. Robbins is a board certified funeral director and embalmer. In 1999 Robbins was named executive director of the Texas Funeral Service Commission, where he has served diligently. In 2004 he was elected to The Conference Board of Directors as Director for District 7 which includes Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana. Mr. Robbins was elected secretary and treasurer of The Conference in 2005. He served as vice president from 2006 to 2007 and served as president from 2007 to 2008. Robbins is a member of the Association of Executives of Funeral Service Examining Boards, serves on the Advisory Board of the San Antonio College School of Mortuary Science, and is Chairman of The Conference’s National Board Examination Science Committee. Robbins is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He and his wife, Jean, have five children and eight grandchildren. Jean is a retired schoolteacher who recently became a board certified funeral director. They reside in Round Rock, Texas. The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards is headquartered in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
