National Board Exam Committee – OPEN CALL
Every year The Conference Board of Directors appoints members of the NBE Arts and NBE Sciences Exam Committees to serve a one-year, voluntary appointment. Committee members are licensees from across the country who are responsible for maintaining the National Board Exam. These subject-matter experts provide general oversight of the licensing examination process. This includes item development, with an ongoing mission to maintain and review items at various stages of the exam development process. While this is a voluntary position, travel expenses are paid by The Conference. Experience in exam development is not required, as training is provided.

NBE Committee Expectations:
– Potential participants must have previously passed the NBE, be currently licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, cannot serve in an educational capacity within funeral service, or hold any other conflicts of interest.
– Attend at least two in-person meetings (tentatively scheduled meeting dates: August 27 – 31, 2017 and February 26 – March 1, 2018). Other meetings, including virtual, may be added depending on need.
– Comfortable and familiar with basic technology.
– Computer and internet access, including the ability to bring a laptop to all meetings.

NBE Job Task Analysis (JTA) Committees – OPEN CALL
The National Board Exam is developed from a Job Task Analysis performed every six to seven years utilizing a diverse group of practitioners from across the nation. This “task inventory” is used to determine the significance/importance of various activities performed by current practitioners. From the analysis of data, a new examination content outline is developed. The Conference is seeking volunteers to serve on various committees related to the JTA throughout 2017. Participants will be expected to work virtually, as well as attend one to three in-person meetings (dates TBD). While this is a voluntary position, travel expenses are paid by The Conference. Experience in exam development is not required, as training is provided.

JTA Committee Expectations:
– Potential participants must have previously passed the NBE, be currently licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.
– Comfortable and familiar with basic technology.
– Computer and internet access, including the ability to bring a laptop to all meetings.
