The Conference Awards Fall 2017 National Board Examination Scholarships
NEW YORK (September 7, 2017) – The Board of Directors of The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards selected five candidates to receive the National Board Examination (NBE) scholarship. The scholarship allows recipients to sit for the NBE with the $500 examination fee waived.
The scholarship program was open to first-time exam candidates eligible to sit for the NBE within one year. To enter, applicants were asked how funeral service regulation can positively impact their career as funeral service professionals. From the nearly 70 scholarship entries received, The Conference Board of Directors selected the five individuals at random during the Board of Directors Meeting on August 29, 2017, in New York. The Board of Directors previously awarded five scholarships candidates in the Spring of 2017, bringing the total number of scholarships given by The Conference this year to ten.
The Fall 2017 NBE Scholarship recipients are:
- Sarah Carlos, Cypress College
- Tracy Hineman, John Tyler Community College
- Karl Meyer, Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science
