The Conference is committed to the principle of testing individuals in a manner that will yield valid and reliable examination results. In some instances, the examination administration procedures may need to be modified to provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities. To request accommodations, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Candidates with a documented disability covered under the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA) must first apply for their exam through The Conference’s website or through postal mail. Prior to submitting the application, we encourage each candidate to thoroughly read the Candidate Handbook for exam policies. If assistance is needed to access the application or handbook, please contact The Conference office at 479-442-7076. On the application, the candidate selects that they require accommodations, then states the type of accommodation(s) they are requesting in the provided field. The Conference must also receive their exam eligibility in order to begin the accommodations review process. Depending on which exam the candidate is registering for, eligibility is submitted directly by the candidate’s mortuary science program or state licensing board.
Step 2: The ADA Examination Accommodation Request Form must be submitted to The Conference. The first page is completed by the candidate and the second page (“Practitioner’s Statement”) is completed by the candidate’s health practitioner. Please note the Practitioner’s Statement must be sent directly from the practitioner on identifying letterhead or equivalent.
Step 3: Once the candidate’s application, payment, exam eligibility, and ADA Examination Accommodation Request Form are received, The Conference reviews their accommodations request. This processing time varies, but typically takes between 2 – 7 business days. If the requested accommodation(s) are approved, The Conference will contact the candidate via email with the list of accommodations to be provided, along with instructions on how to schedule with the accommodations. If The Conference is unable to approve the requested accommodations, The Conference will contact the candidate via email stating the reason why the accommodation(s) were not approved and/or what else is needed for further consideration.
Step 4: In order to schedule an examination with approved ADA Accommodations, the candidate must contact Pearson VUE’s Accommodations Coordinator directly at 1-800-466-0450, option 3. Pearson VUE will instruct the test center administrators to be prepared to accommodate the candidate’s examination needs, but it is also important that they confirm their accommodations at time of scheduling.
If you have any questions about the process, you may contact The Conference office for assistance at 479-442-7076.
