Each year The Conference Board of Directors appoints members of the National Board Exam Arts and Sciences Committees to serve a one-year, voluntary appointment. Committee members are dually licensed practitioners from across the country who are responsible for the development and maintenance of the items for the State and National Board Exams. These subject-matter experts provide general oversight of the licensing exam with an ongoing mission to maintain and review items at various stages of the exam development process.
The members of the 2021-2022 Exam Committee will be required to attend two virtual meetings: one in the fall of 2021 and another in early 2022. Members who participate fully in both meetings may have an added option to attend the Annual Meeting in-person courtesy of The Conference (February 23 & 24, 2022).
While this committee is not open to ABFSE accredited program staff, we will have a separate open call for our summer Item Writing Workshop (June 15-17, 2021) and will invite educators to apply for that opportunity.
The deadline to apply is April 8, 2021.

Exam Committee members represent a diverse group of funeral service licensees. Previous experience in exam development is not required, as training is provided. Committee members cannot work directly with or have any immediate family members enrolled in any ABFSE accredited program and must also be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement. Please note that spots on the Exam Committee are very limited. However, if you are not selected we will keep your information on file for other opportunities in the future.
We’ve put together a helpful guide to help you find the exam that’s right for you.
