PALM SPRINGS, CA – The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards (The Conference) finalized a series of updates to its bylaws at the 121st Annual Meeting.

The revised bylaws were adopted by the delegate assembly to add clarifying language and to optimize participation within the election process. The Board of Directors will remain at nine members but will now be elected by the delegate assembly and the previous district restrictions have been removed.

The newly formalized Nominating Committee will be charged with ensuring diversity in the election process and seek to fill designated positions for funeral service regulatory board licensees, administrators, and consumer representatives.

“We’re excited to see these changes play out in a way that allows our membership to have more access to the leadership track for the organization,” said Conference President Karen Carruthers.

The Conference’s Annual Meeting provides a valuable opportunity for individuals involved in funeral service regulation to exchange information, share problem-solving strategies, and collaborate on goals for the future of the profession. The 122nd Annual Meeting will be held February 24–26, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Seelbach Hilton. The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards is headquartered in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
