The Conference Convenes Standard Setting Committee

The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards convened a committee to recommend the passing standard for the National Board Arts and Sciences Exams on October 25-27, 2022. Licensees representing diverse backgrounds in funeral service provide subject matter expertise to set the benchmark for the expected level of performance for a minimally competent exam candidate. The rigorous process includes training, review of the NBE content outline and peer discussion of exam items to determine minimum competence requirements. Standard setting is an integral part of the exam development cycle and assures the public that the credentialing decisions resulting from a candidate’s exam score is fair and valid.
